One of my favorite wildflowers - the tropical-looking Leopard Lily, Lilium pardalinum - has bloomed on the forest floor. The splash of orange is so unexpected in the world of greens and browns. It is also called Tiger Lily or Panther Lily. Its roots have medicinal qualities but I'd just rather admire this rare beauty from afar.

I like to admire it's beauty up close!
By the time you come up there should be many blooms for you to admire "up close!"
There are quite a few of these about to bloom along the Gualala River. They are later than usual by about one or two weeks.
That's good to know! The ones on my property are late too but I'm glad they have joined the party.
